The withdrawal period for nominations for the 2016 Municipal Election expired at 4:00 pm, September 22nd.

The following nominees are declared duly elected for the respective office by acclamation:

The voters list and notice of revision can be viewed at the municipal office. Candidates may request a copy of the voters list to be used only for municipal election purposes. Changes to the voters list must be requested in writing at the municipal office using the appropriate forms.

Community Fall Clean Up Day

The community fall clean up day is scheduled for September 28th, 2016. The Naicam Public Works Department will pick up compost according to the posted schedule only. Any compost remaining on September 30th, 2016 will be the sole responsibility of the homeowner to dispose of.  

Compost must be out for pickup on September 28th by 8:00 am (but not prior to September 27th) to be assured pickup. Compost is to be placed for back alley pickup. Please avoid placing compost on street front locations. Pickup areas/dates are estimated and may be adjusted as work progresses.

  • South of Centre Street: September 28th
  • North of Centre Street: September 29th

Compost placed for pickup must be in compliance with the following regulations.

  1. Place for pickup at the back alley by 8 am on September 28th.
  2. Bags may ONLY contain leaves and grass clippings in CLEAR bags.
  3. Bags must weigh 40 LBS OR LESS or may be refused.
  4. Compost in a slimy state of decomposition may be refused.
  5. Tree branches and loose garden debris can be piled for pickup.
  6. Tree branches will be picked up free-of-charge ONLY when the amount is no larger than one half-ton size load.
  7. Loads LARGER than above will be subject to a pick-up fee.
  8. Branches CANNOT exceed 4 feet in length and 3 inches in diameter.
  • The transfer station accepts residents bringing in their compost and tree branches at NO CHARGE regardless of its state of decomposition.
  • You may also pickup a REACT garbage tag and tag your compost to be picked up with your weekly garbage.

Municipal Payments in the Event of a Postal Strike

Customers are reminded that they are responsible for paying any balances owed to the Town of Naicam by the due date, regardless of any disruption to postal service. In the event that the postal strike affects our region you will not be able to send or receive any documents via mail. This includes bills, statements, and other  correspondence.

Customers can receive up-to date- billing information by calling the Municipal office at 306-874-2280.  Your can also request an electronic copy of your bill or come down to the office to obtain your paper copy. Please keep in mind that we can only provide account information to the persons listed on the account. We may need to ask you some identification verification questions when you cal/email in to protect your privacy. Please have ready your name as it appears on your bill/statement, civic address/legal land description, account or customer number, and telephone number.

There are a number of options to pay a bill:

  • Online, via telephone or mobile banking through the CIBC and Affinity Credit Union
  • In person at the Municipal Office via cash, cheque or debit
  • Send a cheque through a Courier or Parcel Service

Town of Naicam water customers are reminded that they can have accounts set up for pre-authorized payments. Click Pre-authporized Debit Form – Fillable you can fill out and either fax, email or bring into the office.

DO NOT mail or courier cash or leave cash in the Town’s after hours drop box.

Interac DEBIT Now Available!

debitEffective July 21, 2016 the Municipal Office now accepts Interac Debit as a method of payment.

Please note this is DEBIT only.

At this time we do not accept credit cards.

Payments via debit can be made during our regular business hours 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday (closed Stat Holidays).

 

Water Notice

The department of Public Works will be starting the process of exercising the valves throughout the community today, July 21, 2016.  They can only exercise so many in one day therefore this process may take a few days.  This process ensures that all valves are capable of being opened and closed and are not stuck in one position. It will also alert us to any valves needing repair or replacement.

During this process residents may notice some turbidity/murkiness to the water. The water, though discoloured, is still potable and perfectly safe. Residents with concerns should contact the Municipal Office at 306-874-2280.

Employment Opportunity: Community Enhancement Co-ordinator

 

Town of Naicam:  Community Enhancement Co-ordinator (DEADLINE EXTENDED)

The Town of Naicam is urgently seeking a motivated, energetic Community Enhancement Co-ordinator to work 20-30 hours per week. This is a permanent position to be filled by  August 8th, 2016.

Requirements include:

  • Public Relations with clubs, organizations, patrons, general public and neighboring municipalities
  • External Communications – receive event promotional materials from various community organizations and distribute the material/information through bulletins, regular newsletters, local paper, radio, posters, changeable sign, email networks, web page, Facebook and other forms of communication.
  • Handle the correspondence of council, board and/or department as directed at a duly constituted board meeting; in a timely manner.
  • Liaison between council or board and community groups
  • Provide direct and indirect personnel and material resources to community groups
  • Basic bookkeeping services for local community organizations and preparation of financial statements.
  • Submit written reports to regular meetings of council and attend in person the meetings on a request basis

Compost

The Town of Naicam will only be picking up compost in June, prior to Homecoming 2016.

Effective June 28, 2016, the Town of Naicam no longer offers picking up of compost due to the costs and time it absorbs of the employees.

Water Leak – Limited Services – 4th Ave N

There is a water leak on 4th Ave N. Residents may experience low pressure and limited water throughout the day. Residents on 4th Ave N, north of Hwy#349 will be without water tomorrow (June 14th) when the repair is scheduled. Please stay tuned for updates.
